This custom residential house showcases the timeless beauty and craftsmanship of traditional cedar shakes enhanced with distinctive decorative accents. Nestled back from the ocean this house sits on a wooded lot, surrounded by ferns, giving the impression that the house is part of the surrounding greenery and not the other way around, the Earth tones and softer edges of the house allow it to blend in.
With large living spaces on the first floor, including a screened in porch and fireplace, there is plenty of room for gathering. The ADU above the garage allows for visiting family to comfortably stay but not impose. Details such as the arched corbels and arched openings over the garage and front door help soften the more traditional straight lines. The basement holds the mechanical systems which include a whole house ERV which combined with the well-sealed and insulated exterior wall assembly ensure a comfortable and safe home year-round. Decorative accent patterns were incorporated throughout the design to add visual interest and create a unique, handcrafted appearance that elevates the presence of the house.
