The Belfast Community Co-op has been a cornerstone of downtown Belfast since 1976, providing access to locally sourced, organic, and natural products for the entire community. In 2023, the Co-op embarked on an ambitious $6.4 million renovation to modernize its space while maintaining operations throughout construction.

This extensive project included expanded retail areas, improved bulk food sections, enhanced refrigerated merchandising, and the long-awaited reopening of the Co-op’s prepared foods kitchen and café—an essential gathering space for the Belfast community. Structural, mechanical, and electrical upgrades ensured the building met modern safety and efficiency standards while preserving the welcoming atmosphere that has made the Co-op a beloved local institution.

Staying true to the Belfast Community Co-op mission Warren Construction teamed with their management and our partners to carefully phase construction, ensuring retail operations could continue uninterrupted throughout the project.

The renovation, completed in 2024, represents more than just a physical upgrade—it reaffirms the Co-op’s mission of providing high-quality, affordable, and sustainably sourced food to the Belfast community. Through collaboration with local engineering and design partners, this project ensures that the Co-op will continue to serve as a vital hub for fresh food, community connection, and cooperative values for generations to come.
