About Warren Construction Group | Maine Construction Company

Who We Are

Founded in 1999, Warren Construction Group is a 100% employee-owned construction management and general contracting company serving clients throughout Maine. For more than 25 years, we have worked with homeowners, architects, businesses, institutions, nonprofits, and communities to plan and build projects that are thoughtfully designed, carefully managed, and built to last.

Our work spans a wide range of construction, including commercial buildings, educational and campus facilities, custom homes, historic renovations, community projects, sustainable and high-performance buildings, specialty roofing, and architectural millwork.

From our headquarters in Topsham, Maine, our team brings together experienced project managers, superintendents, carpenters, craftsmen, estimators, and construction professionals who share a commitment to quality construction and a straightforward approach to working with our clients.

A Maine Construction Company Built on Ownership

Warren Construction Group became an employee-owned company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in 2016. Employee ownership is more than a benefit at WCG; it is an important part of how we approach our work.

Because our employees have a personal stake in the success of the company, we believe they bring a heightened sense of responsibility to every project. Ownership encourages our team to take initiative, solve problems, communicate clearly, protect the quality of the work, and remain focused on the long-term success of our clients.

Our employee-owners understand that the reputation of Warren Construction Group is built one project and one relationship at a time.

Our Construction Services

Warren Construction Group provides construction management and general contracting services for a broad range of projects throughout Maine.

Our capabilities include:

Our experience allows us to assemble the right team and approach for each project rather than applying the same construction process to every building.

Experience Across Maine

For more than two decades, Warren Construction Group has built and renovated projects throughout Maine. Our work includes custom homes, commercial buildings, educational facilities, community centers, historic properties, athletic facilities, research spaces, and specialty construction projects.

We understand that construction in Maine comes with its own challenges. Weather, seasonal conditions, historic building requirements, coastal environments, remote locations, existing structures, material availability, and local permitting requirements can all affect a project.

Our experience allows us to anticipate these challenges during planning and develop practical solutions before they become larger problems in the field.

Our Approach to Construction

Successful construction starts well before work begins on site. We believe careful planning, accurate estimating, clear communication, and collaboration are essential to a successful project.

Our preconstruction process can include budgeting, estimating, constructability reviews, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, material evaluation, value engineering, and planning for long-lead materials.

During construction, our project managers and superintendents work closely with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to coordinate the work and maintain the project’s goals for quality, schedule, and cost.

We approach each project as a unique building challenge. Our goal is not simply to construct what is shown on the drawings, but to understand the intent behind the design and help the project team make informed decisions throughout the process.

The ESOP Advantage

Being 100% employee-owned gives Warren Construction Group a different perspective on our work.

Every employee-owner has a direct connection to the long-term success of the company. That ownership culture encourages our team to take pride in the work, look for better solutions, and remain accountable for the commitments we make to our clients.

It also creates a culture where employees are encouraged to identify problems and participate in solving them.

We believe that ownership creates an environment where people care about the quality of the work they perform, the relationships they develop, and the reputation they leave behind.

Communication, Collaboration, and Accountability

We believe straightforward, honest communication is vital at every phase of the planning and building process.

Construction involves thousands of decisions, and even well-planned projects can encounter unexpected conditions. Our approach is to address issues directly, communicate the available options, and work collaboratively with the project team to determine the appropriate solution.

Financial expectations are an important part of that communication. Through preconstruction planning and value engineering, we work with owners and design professionals to understand the relationship between cost, function, performance, quality, and design.

Our goal is to create a construction process where expectations are clear and the entire project team understands what is happening and why.

Innovation and High-Performance Building

Warren Construction Group remains grounded in proven building principles while embracing new technologies, materials, and construction techniques.

Our team has experience with LEED, Passive House, WELL, and other high-performance building projects. This experience has given us a practical understanding of building envelopes, energy efficiency, air sealing, insulation, high-performance windows, efficient mechanical systems, and other strategies that contribute to long-term building performance.

We believe sustainable construction should also be durable construction. A building that performs well over time should be carefully designed, properly detailed, and expertly constructed.

Our experience with high-performance buildings allows us to work effectively with architects, engineers, owners, and consultants who are pursuing ambitious energy and sustainability goals.

Safety Is Part of Our Culture

A safe jobsite is fundamental to the way we operate.

Our safety program emphasizes active participation by employees, project-specific planning, regular safety meetings, job hazard analysis, and ongoing communication about site conditions and potential hazards.

Our Safety Director oversees the continued development and implementation of our safety program, while project managers, superintendents, and employees are responsible for maintaining safe practices in the field.

Warren Construction Group has received more than a dozen awards recognizing our safety performance, including the Richard J. Haines Memorial Award for Safety Excellence in 2009 and 2022.

Safety is not separate from quality construction. We believe a well-organized, well-managed, and safe jobsite supports better work for everyone involved.

Quality Construction That Lasts

At Warren Construction Group, craftsmanship matters.

We work on projects where the quality of the construction, the durability of the materials, and the details of the finished building are important. Our team includes experienced carpenters and craftsmen who take pride in the work they perform.

We also self-perform portions of our work when doing so provides greater control over quality, scheduling, and coordination. Our capabilities include carpentry, specialty roofing, and custom architectural millwork through our in-house millwork operation.

From complex structural work to carefully detailed finish carpentry, we believe quality is found in the details.

Building Long-Term Relationships

We do more than build buildings. We build long-term relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other members of the construction community.

Many of the people we work with return to Warren Construction Group for additional projects. We value those relationships because they reflect the trust that develops through successful collaboration.

Whether we are building a custom home, renovating a historic building, constructing a campus facility, or completing a commercial project, we approach the work with the same commitment to communication, craftsmanship, and accountability.

Our work throughout Maine has given us the opportunity to build a wide variety of projects and develop lasting relationships with the people and organizations behind them.
